Спортсмен из Сургута Омар Асхаб Юсупов завоевал золотую медаль на чемпионате мира по смешанным единоборствам (ММА), который прошел в Грузии. Он выступил за сборную России в весовой категории до 70 килограммов. Об этом сообщил губернатор Югры Руслан Кухарук.

«От всей души поздравляю спортсмена и тренерский штаб с этим выдающимся достижением! Этот успех вдохновляет молодых ребят стремиться к большим целям, не бояться трудностей и идти вперед под флагом и с гимном России!» – написал Кухарук.

Юсупов ранее трижды становился победителем чемпионата России по ММА. Теперь к его достижениям добавился титул чемпиона мира.

Российская сборная заняла первое место в общем медальном зачете чемпионата и первенства мира. Спортсмены завоевали 39 наград: 21 золотую, четыре серебряные и 14 бронзовых медалей. На соревнованиях команда выступала под национальным флагом и с гимном России.
